Creator’s Delusion Chapter Ten

There we go, much quicker than last time. Could still be better though, but that’s what I get for trying to do several hundred things at once.

This chapter has a lot of talking in, I think was me subconsciously trying to reach the word limit each day for Nanowrimo which is in turn a reason why I’ll never do that accursed event again.

Long time, no see + Creator’s Delusion Chapter Nine

Yeah, I’ve not been very good keeping this place up to date, have I? I’m still around, as you may know if you follow my Twitter (https://twitter.com/#!/HakureiDeity)

Coursework has been a major pain but thankfully I’m in a bit of a quiet phase.

People may rejoice to know that I’ve quit World of Warcraft, 4.3 was rather dull and my guild was disbanded so I left, no point paying subscription fees and stuff for that. It’s given me more free time back though at least.

Thanks for the comments that people leave, I do read everyone one of them and they certainly make me think of writing and whatnot, I really do want to get back into writing but like my post said, I’m struggling. Keeping it brief…

  • Creator’s Delusion took all of my ideas for Makai, since RiG4 is in Makai I need to reimagine the location. Additionally the entire reason for Yuka and Haru to go there is to have a rematch with Shinki, since Creator’s Delusion already has a fight with Shinki, I need to come up with something a little more original, my problem is that I am really getting no ideas.
  • I’m not too happy with Creator’s Delusion. As you may be aware I wrote CD for Nanowrimo which exists to write 50k words in a month. I didm it’s all sat in a document on my computer. The issue is that such a short time frame means it was rushed which means I’m not happy with the quality thus the headless ranting over needing a proofreader.
  • I’m more and more looking into starting a new story. I’m not sure which but I definitely have the ideas. We have RiG5 which will be more like RiG3, involving Yuka and Haru going against their toughest opponents yet whose powers even unnerve Yuka. There’s a side-story which would kinda be nice to do since it’s the 5 year anniversary of RiG coming up(!?!!), said story would involve more instances of Yuka and Haru in the outside world visiting a few locations but my main issue with it currently is that there’s just no overall plot to it and without it I can’t start. The other main idea I have is another origin story which will this time focus on Murasaki Hakurei, it’d be a fairly short story and most likely focus on her decision to become Gensokyo’s guardian, I was fairly confidence in the premise of the story up until yesterday when I found a big hole in the story in the form of timeline inconsistency.

That’s the status on my stories, I’m not sure what to do at this point but I need to do something. The longer I sit here doing nothing the more I’ll do it. I know the comments for my last post addressing this gave interest for another RiG so I’ll probably focus in that area, I just need to come to some sort of conclusion on what to do with RiG4 as it is.

In other news, I’ve been invited to record a video which is part of a series to a beginner’s guide to Touhou, obviously if you’re reading this you won’t need such a thing but chances are I’ll be doing it unrehearsed and I’m planning to explain my writing/stories to some detail so it might end up being a sort of behind-the-scenes talk. I’ll post the link here when the video is actually up in case you’re interested.

 

Creator’s Delusion

For now, I’ve proofread a chapter of Creator’s Delusion to try and urge myself into the flow. I really struggle with proofreading myself so this is all I could do tonight but at least it’s something to read. There was a bug importing the text to WordPress so if any formatting looks off then let me know.

Edit: Added a twitter stream of sorts to the right, looks awful and incredibly basic but it’ll do until I get something nicer sorted out. WordPress is rather annoying to fiddle around with.

Edit 2: Found a better Twitter plugin but as you can see it’s rather… chaotic at the moment. I’ll look into it tomorrow and see why it’s not formatting itself into tables or whatever.

Edit 3: New theme for now, makes the site formatting not screwed up. I’m going to bed for real this time.

Hello World!

Hello all, just a quick post to let you know I’m not dead. I’m just been incredibly busy lately with barely a free moment to do anything. Still suffering from something of a writer’s block which I’ve pretty much identified the source as being the fact I’m not satisfied with RiG4′s current plot and where it is going. I’m currently considering putting RiG4 on hold and working on another story; RiG5 which is a lot more active, (Think RiG3-esque) or another story looking at the characters’s past. (I know which character it is already). If you have any thoughts on the stories or anything, leave a comment, I’m certainly interested in seeing them.

Nothing to see here.

Hi all, no story updates sorry. As I’ve stated on my Twitter, I’ve reached a point where RiG4 will spoil the ending of CD, so I can’t post any more of that until CD is posted which is still awaiting proofreading. I’m trying my hardest to resolve this issue.

In the meantime, since I’m bored, I thought I’d talk about something else which I’ve not really talked about and this blog isn’t about, but whatever.

It’s that of tabletop wargaming, something I delve into a little every now and then. Recently Games Workshop jacked the prices up for at least the third time in a year which has pretty much turned a major chunk of the online community off, including myself. The models are nice and all but paying such a large amount for what is effectively a bit of plastic is just plain silly.

So I collect another game which involves spending a llarge amount of money on bits of Plastic. Recently, myself, Destructiox and two others have started to delve into Warmachine, a game that’s been rising in popularity in the past few years and is bound to increase with the growing dislike for Games Workshop and the anniversary sale being done for Warmachine. It’s a lot smaller in focus and features a battle system I find rather fun. The name Warmachine refers (probably) to the Warjacks, large steampunk-esque robots that are mentally controlled by a Warcaster, the leader of the forces.

The idea of the game is to assassinate the enemy general which renders their robots useless, winning the game, this means the game, from the start, has a very strong focus on crashing into your opponent to try and break through the inevitable wall of forces to get to their commander making the game get into the action rather quickly. Each different warjack has varying stats and weapons and skills to utilize which means all kinds of crazy stuff is going on and from what I’ve seen it tends to be fairly balanced too. This adds an element of  strategy often not found in Warhammer when an army build exists that can simply win through unfair means or the fact some armies are hugely overpowered.

There’s four main teams; Cygnar, the most technologically advanced. Khador, the russian themed ones with lots of big warjacks. Cryx, which is the undead flavour and my team, the Protectorate of Menoth, a large religious country who love burning things. How appropriate for me. Sadly, I’ve yet to see my team in action but I’ve seen the others play and there’s no reason sign of a dominant team, though we’re only on the starter sets currently. I’ll upload some pictures some time.

 

In other news, I’ve been playing games as usual. I recently got and completed Witcher 2 which was an amazing game, well worth a try. Other than that it’s been the usual WoW and Heroes of Newerth. I got Terraria too but I’ve barely played it yet. Also, Duke Nukem comes out in less than two weeks now. It’s probably gonna be bad but after god knows how many years… I just don’t care any more. It’ll be fun mindless shooting til Serious Sam 3 comes out.

I’ve got bored of chasing the CD proofreaders so I’ve started doing some work on RiG4, to be perfectly honest I’m not that happy with that I have planned for RiG4 but I’m far more excited about RiG5 which means I need to clear this hurdle first. New Chronicle page and other things

Hello again.

Yes, I did say there’d be a RiG4 chapter this week, it’s still in the works. Decided to make it cover the whole scene rather than split it in two chapters. Regardless, it’s coming along nicely and shouldn’t take much longer.

I’ve also got next week off from work so I plan to get some writing done, wishful thinking says I can do at least 2 chapters. We’ll see.

The main reason I didn’t get the chapter done early this week is because of this.

Poll Results

I must admit, I am quite amused by these results. They definitely show which stories people prefer. Yuka barely beat Haru to first place though the presence of both mean that RiG is still highly wanted. Good news everyone, I have a rough plot for RiG5 now, problem is I gotta finish RiG4 first which I’m not enjoying too much any more. Creator’s Delusion has taken a lot of stuff from RiG4 so I’m struggling to come up with content. (And a completely new Makai to the one I wrote in November.)

Mima and Yukari, the rivals, drew next. CD is still in the works due to proofreader problems. Yukari, however, does have a story in the works. Not saying much for now but it’s another story set in the past. We’ve had Yuka’s version, we’ve had Mima’s version. Time to complete the set with Yukari’s.

Mima does have another story planned too, gapping the end of CD and her reappearance in RiG1 but I’m not gonna work on that for a while. Not til RiG5 so we’re talking a long time away.

Yumemi came in last with one vote. Fortunate really since she’s the one character I don’t have a story for at the moment. With a bit of guesswork and putting 2 and 2 together, you can probably work out Yumemi’s story between RiG2 and RiG4 from the brief descriptions she gives in RiG4. In particular there’s one nickname that Chiyuri mentions….

Anyway, currently because I’m working on proofreaders, I’ve hopped back to RiG4 and there should be a new chapter out in the week. Doubling my reasoning is that the poll has shown that it’s Yuka and Haru that people want and so that’s what they will get.

Those waiting for the Stepmania packs to be re-uploaded should see some action soon.

Back to writing my university assignment. :(
